Eight months ago, Wicked North Games made a decision that changed everything.
In early May 2025, our team got together for one big question:
What if we re-released Azamar using The Arcane Library’s Third-Party Creator License for Shadowdark?
We talked. We argued (the healthy kind). We researched. We followed up directly with The Arcane Library. And after a week of deep digging, we all landed at the same conclusion:
This is the future of Azamar.
Why you are seeing a new insignia
If you’ve noticed our updated graphics on our social channels, this is intentional. The symbol you’re seeing is the Axiom. The source of all magic throughout Azamar.
The Axiom is in severe distress.
So severe it’s beginning to break.
That’s not just a brand refresh; this is part of the story moving forward.
The cover illustration is coming — and old friends are back!
We’re thrilled to be working with the extraordinarily talented Tyler Walpole on our new cover art.
If that name rings a bell, it should: Tyler illustrated the cover art for Azamar the Player’s Guide (2011) and the Westward Core Rulebook (2013).
We’re lucky to have him back for this new era.
And yes, he is currently bringing to life one of the nastiest things we’ve ever put into Azamar: The Pneumaphage.
Once we have the final creature art in hand, we have asked Adam LeNaire to begin building a series of cover mockups for this newest edition.

As we push toward publishing Azamar as a third-party Shadowdark setting, we want to say a sincere thanks to Dungeon Damsel Creation for their help and support. If you’re already playing Shadowdark, we highly recommend their third-party supplement: Unnatural Selection.
And they’re not stopping there! Dungeon Damsel is expanding Unnatural Selection into their full setting: Druskara, with a BackerKit campaign launching in March 2026.
